Onlangs heeft de Nederlandse Minister van Volkgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport de definitieve beslissing genomen inzake de inhoud van het zorgverzekeringspakket dat per 1 januari op Bonaire, Saba en Sint-Eustatius zal worden ingevoerd.
Onlangs heeft de Nederlandse Minister van Volkgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport de definitieve beslissing genomen inzake de inhoud van het zorgverzekeringspakket dat per 1 januari op Bonaire, Saba en Sint-Eustatius zal worden ingevoerd.
Ingaande 1 januari 2011, vallen alle personen die legaal verblijven en/of werken op één van de drie eilanden van het Caribisch Nederland, automatisch onder het algemene zorgverzekeringspakket. Dit houdt in dat ingaande deze datum alle overige ziektekostenverzekeringen zoals de SVB, BZV, PP en de particuliere verzekeringen komen te vervallen, voor zover de aanspraken gelijk zijn aan de aanspraken van de Zorgverzekering. Inwoners van de eilanden hoeven niets te doen om medische behandeling te krijgen, een ieder hoeft slechts een geldige ‘sédula’ oftewel identiteitskaart hebben.
Gedurende de themaweken die de Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland (RCN) recentelijk heeft georganiseerd, is reeds informatie verstrekt over de algemene zorgverzekering die per 1 januari 2011 in werking zal treden, echter op dat moment was de inhoud van het pakket nog niet geheel afgerond. Inmiddels is het pakket klaar en dat betekent dat ingaande vandaag het RCN- Zorgverzekeringskantoor een intensieve voorlichtingscampagne zal starten om op deze wijze alle inwoners van de drie eilanden en de instanties die medische zorg en behandelingen bieden, informatie te geven over de inhoud van het pakket.
Zorgverzekering is iets wat ons allen raakt, het is dan ook van groot belang dat een ieder goed geïnformeerd is over de aanspraken waar hij/zij recht op heeft in geval van medische zorg. De voorlichtingscampagne die de naam “Ik ben ook verzekerd” draagt, zal niet alleen de nadruk leggen op de inhoud van het pakket maar ook op wat elke burger moet doen om medische zorg te ontvangen.
Er is reeds aangegeven dat teneinde medische zorg te ontvangen, iemand slechts zijn/haar identiteitskaart oftewel ‘sédula’ dient te overleggen. Tijdens de voorlichtingscampagne zal deze procedure nader toegelicht worden alsmede hoe minderjarigen (die geen ‘sédula’ hebben) medische zorg krijgen.
Voor wat betreft het verzekeringspakket, omvat deze o.a. huisartsenzorg, medisch-specialistische zorg, ziekenhuiszorg, paramedische zorg, tandheelkundige zorg, farmaceutische zorg, hulpmiddelenzorg, verloskundige zorg, ziekenvervoer, repatriëringskosten van de overledene, hulp audiologisch centrum, hulp erfelijkheidsadvisering, dialyse, chronische ademhalingsproblemen, revalidatie zorg, laboratorium en radiologische behandeling, langdurige zorg en medische uitzendingen.
Uiterlijk 13 december, zal er een informatie brochure beschikbaar zijn met alle details over de inhoud van het zorgverzekeringspakket. Deze datum is bepaald omdat de RCN bezig is met de vertaling van deze documenten in het Papiamentu en Engels en er rekening gehouden moet worden met ingewikkelde terminologie. Personen die echter alvast, voor het verschijnen van de brochure, informatie willen hebben over de inhoud van het zorgverzekeringspakket kunnen onze website bezoeken op: http://www.RijksdienstCN.com waar dit document te vinden is. De RCN kan ook gebeld worden op 08008-101010 of u kunt een e-mail sturen naar info@RijksdienstCN.com en dan sturen wij u het digitale dokument toe. Een kopie van het document is ook beschikbaar aan de RCN-balie. Gelieve er rekening mee te houden dat, gedurende de komende twee weken, het document alleen in het Nederlands beschikbaar is tot op het moment dat de brochure gereed is.
Er zal ook voorlichting gegeven worden aan de gemeenschap via de media zoals de kranten, radio en televisie.

Healthcare Insurance Package is ready
Recently the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports took the final decision on the content of the healthcare insurance package that will be introduced on Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius as of January 1st.
Starting January 1st, 2011, individuals legally residing and/or working on one of the three islands of the Caribbean Netherlands, will automatically be covered under the general healthcare insurance. This means that as of this date all other healthcare insurances such as SVB, BZV, PP and private insurances will automatically expire to the extent that they cover the same as the general healthcare insurance. Residents of the islands need not do anything to receive medical care in January; each person must only have a valid ID-card or sédula.
During the theme weeks that were recently organized by the ‘Rijkdienst Caribisch Nederland’ (RCN), information was already provided about the general healthcare insurance that will enter into force by January 2011, however at that time the content of the package was not fully ready. Now the package is ready and that means that the RCN Healthcare Insurance Office will start and intensive information campaign in order to inform all residents of the three islands and the institutions offering medical care and treatment about the content of the package.
Healthcare insurance concerns us all. It is therefore of the utmost importance that each person be well informed about his/her coverage rights when it comes to medical care. The information campaign that carries the name “I am also insured” will not only emphasize the content of the package but also what a citizen must do in order to receive medical care. It has already been mentioned that to receive medical care a person must only show his/her ID-card or sédula. During the information campaign this procedure will be further elaborated on and also how minors (who do not have a sédula) receive medical care.
With regard to the insurance package, this includes among others general practitioner care, specialist medical care, hospital care, paramedical care, dental care, pharmaceutical care, aid devices care, obstetric care, patient transportation, repatriation costs of the deceased, assistance audiological center, assistance genetic counseling, dialysis, chronic respiratory problems, rehabilitation care, laboratory and radiological treatment, long-term care and medical missions for treatment abroad.
At the latest by December 13th an information booklet will be available with all details on the content of the healtcare insurance package. This date was set because the RCN is in the process of translating this document in Papiamentu and English and must take the complicated terminology into account. However, individuals who wish to receive information on the content of the healthcare insurance prior to the booklet being available can visit our website at http://www.RijksdienstCN.com on which the document will be posted. The RCN may also be called at 08008-101010 or e-mailed at info@RijksdienstCN.com and we will send you the document in soft copy. A hard copy of the document is also available at the RCN counter. Please take into account that during the next two weeks the document is available only in Dutch until the booklet is ready.
