Attika Architekten Amsterdam krijgt opdracht om het ingediende schetsontwerp uit te werken tot een voorlopig ontwerp voor de nieuwe Brede School onder het motto KARKO.
Dit architectenbureau heeft de tweede prijs en de publieksprijs gewonnen bij de architectenprijsvraag voor het project Brede School Noord Saliña.
De winnaars van de eerste en twee prijs hebben hun ontwerpen uitgebreid gepresenteerd aan de gunningcommissie. Na 2 stemrondes kreeg Attika Architekten Amsterdam unaniem de voorkeur van de gunningcommissie. Deze bestond uit het RK Schoolbestuur, de Stichting Leren is Leuk, Dienst Ruimtelijke Ontwikkeling en Beheer, Servisio Edukashon i Kultura en Dienst Welzijn en Maatschappelijke Dienstverlening van het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire.
Het Bestuurscollege van Bonaire heeft op 25 mei 2011 op advies van de gunningcommissie besloten de opdracht te gunnen aan Attika Architekten.
Al na de eerste stemronde bleek dat er een meerderheid was voor het ontwerp KARKO van Attika Architekten. De toekomstige gebruikers (RK Schoolbestuur en de Stichting Leren is Leuk) en de bouwtechnisch adviseur van het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire (DROB) gaven een duidelijke voorkeur voor het ontwerp met een meer open structuur. De diensten Servisio Edukashon i Kultura en Dienst Welzijn en Maatschappelijke Dienstverlening van het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire hadden een voorkeur voor het ontwerp BOMBO van HL Architecten, vanwege hun visie op hoe een gebouw het brede school concept beïnvloed en vragen over de veiligheid. In de discussie – en argumentatieronde konden deze ongerustheden dermate weg worden genomen dat de gunningcommissie in de tweede en laatste stemronde unaniem voor Attika Architekten koos.
Op basis van het programma van eisen zullen zij het ingediende schetsontwerp verder uitwerken.
Programma van eisen
Het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire heeft Etuconsult om ondersteuning en begeleiding gevraagd bij de ontwikkeling van de eerste brede school op Bonaire. Zij hebben reeds in februari 2011 met alle partners gewerkt aan een visie en een Programma van Eisen. Deze resultaten vormen de basis voor de architect om het schetsontwerp uit te werken tot een voorlopig ontwerp.
Etuconsult heeft met toekomstige gebruikers en hun medewerkers en ouders en buurtbewoners deze week overleg gevoerd om het Programma van Eisen verder te verdiepen. Op woensdag 25 mei 2011 werden de zogenoemde ‘snelkooksessies’ afgesloten met het vaststellen van alle gemaakte afspraken over bouw, pedagogische en didactische inhoud en activiteiten die door de professionals van betrokken schoolbesturen, kinderopvang en naschoolse opvang gaan worden opgestart.
Achtergrondinformatie
De jury van de architectenprijsvraag bestond uit: voorzitter prof. ir. Carlos Weeber,oud-rijksbouwmeester, de heer Glenn Thodé, gezaghebber van Bonaire en mevrouw Enigma Giskus, directeur van de Reina Beatrix school. De prijsvraagdeelnemers moesten hun inzendingen anoniem, onder een motto, insturen. De jury heeft dus over anonieme inzendingen geoordeeld. Zij maakten daarbij gebruik van een aantal criteria, zoals uitvoerbaarheid (bouwsysteem en bouwkostenindicatie), bruikbaarheid (voldoet het aan het Programma van Eisen), aantrekkelijkheid (architectonische kwaliteit, innovatief, inspirerend) en duurzaamheid (klimaatgerichtheid en materiaalkeuze). Het advies van de jury was onafhankelijk en bindend. Het doel van deze wedstrijd was een geschikte architect te vinden. Maar het was aan het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire én de gebruikers van de brede school om uiteindelijk een keuze te maken uit de twee prijsvraagwinnaars.
Attika Architekten Amsterdam is awarded to elaborate the design “KARKO” they made into a preliminary design for the new Multi functional school.
This architect won the second price in the design competition for the new Multi functional school in North Salina, and was also the favorite of the public that voted during the exhibition.
The winners of the first and second price presented their plans extensively to the award committee. After two ballots, Attika Architekten Amsterdam was chosen unanimously by the award committee. The committee consisted of the RK Schoolbestuur, de Stichting Leren is Leuk, Dienst Ruimtelijke Ontwikkeling en Beheer, Servisio Edukashon i Kultura en Dienst Welzijn en Maatschappelijke Dienstverlening of the public entity Bonaire.
After consultation of the award committee, the Executive Council of Bonaire decided on 25th May 2011, to award Attika Architekten.
Only after the first ballot a majority voted for the design KARKO of Attika Architekten. The future users (RK Schoolbestuur en de Stichting Leren is Leuk) and the constructional advisor of the public entity Bonaire (DROB) made clear that they had an explicit preference for the design with a more open structure.
The department Servisio Edukashon i Kultura and department Welzijn en Maatschappelijke Dienstverlening of the public entity of Bonaire had a preference for the design BOMBO of HL Architecten, because of their vision on how a building can strengthen the multi functional school concept and their questions on safety. During the discussion and argumentation these worries could be taken away. Therefore the award committee voted in the second ballot unanimously for Attika Architekten.
The design will be elaborated according to the schedule of demands.
Scedule of demands
The public entity of Bonaire asked Etuconsult to support and guide the development of the first multifunctional school on Bonaire. As early as February 2011 they collaborated with all partners to design a vision and a schedule of demands. These results are the input for the architect to make a preliminary design.
This week Etuconsult discussed the schedule of demands with the future users and their staff, parents and residents in order to work out the schedule of the demands in more detail. On May 25th 2011 the so called “pressure cooking sessions” were concluded with a number of appointments. These concern the building, pedagogic en didactic concepts and activities which will be started by the professionals of the school governors and child care.
Background information
The jury exists of chairman prof. ir. Carlos Weeber, former Kingdom master builder, mr. Glenn Thodé, Island Governor of Bonaire and mrs. Enigma Giskus, school director of the Reina Beatrix school. The contestants had to send in their contributions anonymous, with a motto. So the jury judged the designs anonymous. They checked the contributions on a number of criteria, such as practicability (the building system and the indication of costs), usefulness (does it fit the schedule of demands), attractiveness (architectural quality, innovative, inspiring) and durability (according to the climate and choice of materials). The jury’s advice was independent and binding. The purpose of this competition was to find a suitable architect. But the public entity Bonaire and the users of the multi functional school were the ones who actually had to chose between the two winners of the competition.
